Making a Finer Point (on Technocracy)
"All communication is just fancy pointing..." - A Fancy Pointer
No matter what it is that we’re talking about, we’re always talking about something. After all, what good is communication if it isn’t actually about anything? Thus, all communication, at the end of the day, really does just boil down to us directing one another’s attentions onto various things, and saying, “hey, focus over here on this thing, and specifically on this particular thing about this thing” (… followed by the occasional response of “see, nobody cares”). It’s all just ‘dressed-up’, and therefore ‘fancy’, pointing!
In fact, a number of absolute mad men (the good kind, that is), like Jonathan Pageau have even suggested that we essentially engage in a kind of ‘world-building’, and thus ‘participation in the co-creation of the world’, precisely through this subterranean waltz of attention, redirection, and reordering of attentiveness. For instance, in Pageau’s favorite go-to example, it takes human attention, directed and ordered in a certain manner, in order to see something like four wooden legs and a flat surface put together, and recognize it as a ‘chair’, and in Heidegger’s perhaps more famous example, it also takes human attention redirected and reordered in a certain manner in order to see a hammer as anything separate from its ‘being-a-hammer’… Both chairs and hammers then, and what it means to be them, are thus brought into the world precisely through the manners in which we pay attention to them…
Yet, the chair and the hammer are merely two of the more trivial examples of this ‘attentional-co-creation’ that is taking place everywhere and always… Outside of some (presumably) extremely autistic social spaces, nobody is really debating anymore nowadays what it means to be a chair or a hammer, because the matter has already largely been settled, and really, nobody cares to have that debate in any serious manner, because the matter has also largely become inconsequential. Therefore, unless the matter of ‘being-a-chair’ just happens to be a ‘sleeping dog’ that you simply can’t let lie, it would probably be far more fruitful (especially towards world-building) to find other matters to pay your attention towards (obsessive-compulsive chair-autists BTFO’d)…
Much more deserving of our attentions then, are matters that are not so trivial, settled, and inconsequential; matters that don’t evoke such well-defined parameters as ‘being-a-hammer’ or ‘being-a-chair’, and matters that actually could have some very widespread social implications that would significantly affect our lives (and the worlds we inhabit), if we failed to redirect and reorder the manners in which we paid attention to them…
For instance, far less trivial nowadays than the matter of ‘being-a-chair’ is the staggeringly more pressing matter of ‘being-a-technocratic-society’ (which most of us now live in)… In fact, this writer would comfortably dare to venture that billions of people today could actually tell you what a chair is, and most of their answers would probably be fairly congruent, whereas by contrast, far-far-far-far-far-fewer people today—maybe even less than a million, scattered across the Anglosphere (and across a number of fringe political internet communities)—could even begin to tell you what a technocracy is, and most of their answers would probably be fairly divergent…
Now perhaps, this wouldn’t even have been a pressing matter at all, if technocracy hadn’t been the absolutely singular prevailing sociopolitical outlook of our era (again, back to ‘world-building’)… And perhaps, if it hadn’t also been a vision that had completely captured the imaginations (AKA the attentions) of our ruling classes all across the globe over the last couple of decades (if not centuries)… And, perhaps most importantly, maybe this wouldn’t have mattered nearly as much if technocracy hadn’t also been yet another modern-day manifestation of the same Luciferian impulse that the Bible had been warning us about ever since Genesis 3:5; the impulse to rebel against the order of God, such that those who “eat of the fruit” shall have their eyes “opened” and “be as gods” themselves (a reordering of the highest order)…
However… such is the present moment that we are in… Where the specter of technocracy now looms over us like a dense cloud of haze, that completely envelops us at all times, and in all places. There seems to be little to no escape (at the moment) from this specter that has come to practically reign over just about every facet of our contemporary political, philosophical, and spiritual lives... This specter carries with it bold promises of a perfectly-engineered society, designed and managed by a perfectly-engineered class of ‘experts’ (see Huxley’s ‘Brave New World’, or sample some of the numerous hot takes on algorithmic ‘AI governance’ from the World Economic Forum)… This specter also doesn’t shy away from making bold moves in order to fully realize its own teleological ends (see ‘Two Weeks to Flatten the Curve’, ‘Global Vaccine Passports’, and ‘Building Back Better’)… And yet, despite all of its boldness, only about a million (or so) of us in the world can actually place our fingers on it (point to it), and call it by a proper name (… like ‘techno-Luciferianism’)?… How could this be?… Just how terribly have we all been misdirected?…
The intent of this newsletter then, and that of the broader Iron Age Archive project, which includes our website and our video content, is clear-cut: to redirect attention back towards where we believe that it always should have been, and also towards where we believe that it absolutely needs to be, now more than ever… Broadly speaking, this means attention towards the still unsettled and still consequential matters of technocracy, its relationship to Luciferianism, and the political, philosophical, and religious tendencies of the present and upcoming ages…
But of course… what we’re doing is also no different from what all people have been doing for all time—simply pointing to something and saying, “hey, focus over here on this thing…”—and we would probably hesitate (for now, at least) to claim that our instance of this act is somehow the most important one that is happening in all the world at this exact moment… Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t, but that isn’t the point…
Instead, all we’re really trying to communicate to our new audience is, “hey, focus over here on this pattern of ‘techno-Luciferianism’ (TM) that is unfolding before us, and specifically on how it is deeply connected to every facet of our lives, from the political sphere to the spheres of religion and science”… and if that’s got your attention, then join us, and we’ll point at this thing together—we’ll participate in co-creating a world where technocracy finally becomes a well-defined specter that we can ultimately dissect in a precise and truthful manner… or at minimum, maybe at least bring about a world in which half as many people search the internet for the term ‘technocracy’ as they do for ‘what is a chair’…
Pointing attention to the technocracy is a must in order for its sparagmos to occur
