Techniquement Kings of Scotland were equal to England as the King or rather Ard-Righ or High-King of Alba was in several ceremonies wedded to the land. To the people of Scotland the King was attached to the mountains and landscape.

To the contrary of your claim the King of England was actually King of the English, so that he was attached to a people, he was also in most eras the vassal of France, and thus beneath the royaume. Coming from a historic background I felt it necessary to make several corrections. That said really liked this article, you make some great points.
